AIRPORT EXPRESS SERVICE ROLLS OUT NEW GREEN LUXURY OPTION

State of the Art Fleet Launched

Toronto, May 1st, 2008 – Frustrated travelers seeking a better way to get from downtown to Pearson Airport have a new green luxury option. Pacific Western Transportation today unveiled a fleet of state-of-the-art motor coaches for its Airport Express service that offers an environmentally-friendly, affordable and prestigious connection between downtown and Lester B. Pearson Airport.

“Whether you’re hoping to save money, time or the environment, Airport Express is the way to go,” said Mark Hannah, Vice President, Motorcoach Operations. “Our passengers can cut greenhouse gases at the same time they relax in leather seats, enjoy Wi-Fi internet service and pay considerably less than those using the average limousine or taxi service.”

The Airport Express Green Luxury benefits include:

  • All coaches feature luxurious leather seats and increased legroom.
  • All coaches provide mobile Wi-Fi internet service and a lap top power outlet allowing passengers on-line access for work, fun or communication.
  • Every Airport Express coach is fully equipped with passenger seat belts – a first for any scheduled run in North America.
  • All coaches are fully accessible for persons with disabilities

The new fleet of state-of-the-art coaches also turn what was already a green option into the green option for getting to the airport. The new coaches:

  • Help reduce smog - state-of-the-art EPA 07 engines produce 55 per cent less nitrogen oxide (NOx) and 90 per cent less particulate matter (soot etc.) than previous generation coaches.
  • Help cut green-house gases - low-sulfur fuel blends help cut emissions that contribute to global warming
  • Boast tremendous fuel efficiency - Airport Express can provide 1.3 litres per 100 passenger kilometres, compared to 8.4 litres per 100 passenger kilometres for a car with a single occupant – more than six times more efficient.
  • Shrink the carbon footprint – a fully occupied coach takes 54 cars off the road and reduces CO2 emissions by roughly 85 per cent for each and every passenger.

“There is no better or greener way to travel between downtown Toronto and Pearson airport,” said Mark Hannah, Vice President, Motorcoach Operations. “Why take a cramped cab or a costly limo when you can ride in green luxury?”

The Airport Express service makes 80 trips per day between Pearson International Airport and the downtown core. Travelers can save 10 per cent by booking tickets online at www.torontoairportexpress.com.
