New Security Measures Implemented at
Lester B. Pearson International Airport

Toronto, January 11th 2010 -   Last week Transport Canada announced new security measures for airline passengers at Canadian Airports as part of a continuous effort to reinforce new security policies put in place on December 26th 2009. Within the next couple of months machines capable of performing full body scans will be installed at Toronto's Lester B. Pearson International Airport as well as other select Canadian Airports. Another component of the policy includes the following regulations for individuals travelling by air to the United States:

Carry-on luggage will NOT be permitted within the airplane cabin, with the following exceptions:

  • Small purses
  • Cameras
  • Coats
  • Medications
  • containers carrying life sustaining items
  • special needs items
  • Items for the care of small children
  • Laptop computers
  • Canes/walkers

  • These policies will be in effect until further notice.
