Toronto, January 18th 2011 - Toronto Airport Express will experience service delays on Tuesday, January 18th due to the funeral procession for fallen Toronto Police Officer Sgt. Ryan Russell. The funeral will commence at 9 a.m. at the intersection of University Avenue at Dundas Street West. Included in the procession will be members of the Toronto Police Force, Toronto Fire, Toronto Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Canadian Forces and police officers from cities across Canada and United States.
Considering the anticipated delays Toronto Airport Express travellers are asked to allow for at least one additional hour of travel time. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.
Below is a listing of service locations that will be effected by the funeral proceedings:
1. Schedule Delays - Between the hours of 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. the Toronto Airport Express shuttle service will experience delays of 30 to 45 minutes.
2. InterContinental Hotel - There will be no Toronto Airport Express service at the InterContinental Hotel from 8 a.m. to approximately 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 18th. Passengers are asked to meet the shuttle at the Fairmont Royal York (York Street pick up location). view map
3. Hyatt Regency Toronto - There will be no Toronto Airport Express service at the Hyatt Regency Toronto from 8 a.m. to approximately 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 18th.
4. The Sheraton Centre Hotel, the Strathcona Hotel, Westin Harbour Castle and Fairmont Royal York - All four service locations will experience schedule delays beginning in the morning at 8 through to the 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 18th.
